"Generally speaking, [Johnny Ryan's] comics are really dumb & infantile, and prove beyond a doubt that chemical pollution, television, video games, pop music, etc. is making us all stupider by the minute..." – R. Crumb
Johnny Ryan: Neither. I used to drink a lot of coke. Up to two 2 liter bottles a day. It gave me arrhythmia, so I stopped.
J.R.: I’d probably be in jail.
J.R.: I dunno. It’s fine for some people, I guess. I was an art major at school for a short time, but I don’t think it did much for me.
J.R.: NIGHT BUSINESS by Ben Marra, POWR MASTRS by CF, BOY’S CLUB by Matt Furie, UNLOVABLE by Esther Watson, BERSERK by Kentaro Miura, DMC by Kiminori Wakasugi, I WANT YOU by Lisa Hanawalt, TRUE CHUBBO by Raymond Sohn, and many others.
J.R.: Human contact.
J.R.: Clowes is one of the all time greats.
J.R.: Not really. I usually like working by myself. I have collaborated with Dave Cooper before and that was fun. But that was probably a fluke.
J.R.: They get found out eventually. It’s hard to maintain an art career if you keep ripping people off.
J.R.: Not too often.
J.R.: Watching horror movies, reading…
J.R.: I would probably say I feel more comfortable with comics. I've been doing that longer.
J.R.: I can sell them myself. Or I can stick them in a drawer in my closet.
J.R.: Comics involve writing, for the most part.
J.R.: I dunno. It's okay, I guess. Although, if I had a kid and he wanted to go there I don't think I could bring myself to pay for it.
J.R.: Videodrome, The Thing, Evil Dead 2, Street Trash, Dawn Of The Dead, From Beyond, Rosemary's Baby...
J.R.: Zombieland, The NEW Last House On The Left and Texas Chainsaw movies...
J.R.: I just read that Lords Of Chaos book, so I started listening to a bunch of black metal, like Bathory and Gorgoroth. I also like soundtracks from 60s and 70s italian flicks.
J.R.: A lot.
J.R.: Least favorite: Spanish Favorite: Art
J.R.: A few seconds.
